Beach Basics!

So summer is just around the corner (for me) although in other countries I know people are already going to beach! This makes me extremely jealous but what can I do, unfortunately I can’t change the weather!  With my little ramble being said,  I’m going to show you guys a few of my beach essentials!

An adorable bathing suit!

This is something pretty obvious but I cannot stress how important it is to find a bathing suit that you feel comfortable in! Even if it is a bit out of your price range, I strongly suggest you spend a bit more if it means you will feel confident in it! Everyone has their own personal body issues ( for me it’s my small chest) but don’t worry because I have you covered. For a small chest click here, big chest here,  for tummy issues here, if you  have no curves here, and for affordable bathing suit sites here!

Sunglasses

I love sunglasses so much that last year I had a white line on my nose from where my sunglasses were because I tanned everywhere except there! Although, this year someone brought to my attention that if you don’t buy good quality sunglasses, the lenses may actually be ruining your vision! So unfortunately, I think that most of those cute sunglasses from stores like Forever 21 or H and M aren’t the best for all day wear.

Cute Coverups

I love coverups even more than bathing suits, this is because with coverups you can highlight your best features and hide your worst! Here are a few of my favorite coverups!

Sunscreen!

Last year I really wanted to tan so I put on almost no sunscreen while I was on vacation in Mexico. I know, I’m an idiot! I never really understood how strong the U.V rays really are until I returned home with a bunch of brown spots on my legs. To this day I m still not certain what they were but I think that they were sun spots. Most have disappeared (there are still a few left) but it has taught me a lesson that I will never forget!

Clinique Lipstick Dupe! Save Money!!

Hey guys! I know the whole Christmas and New Year season left us all a bit more broke than usual, so I’d say it’s about time for a makeup dupe post! Everyone loves Clinique; they have pretty colors, great formulas, and are pretty budget friendly (considering it isn’t a drugstore lipstick) which is why I’m so happy to share the dupe I found!

clinique dupe

Clinique (left) vs. NYC (right)

I found a dupe for the Clinique Lipstick called Think Bronze. The great alternate that is almost exact to color is Garnet Gala from NYC’s lipstick collection! Below you can see the two comparisons.

Below you can see the two lipsticks up close. When you look up close you can see exactly how close the colors are! The only difference is the cute light pink apple on the NYC lipstick but it didn’t really change the color. The two lipsticks are definitely very similar and I recommend the NYC lipstick to anyone on a budget (it’s under $5)! The only thing that I like more about the Clinique is that sometimes I feel that the NYC  dries my lips a bit, although I use it a lot more and bring it everywhere with me because it is so easily replaceable so even if I loose it, it wouldn’t be a big deal!

best drugstore lipstick

I give a 4.5/5 rating for the NYC lipstick compared to the Clinique, so you should definitely buy it the next time you are in your local drugstore!

The temperature has officially been under 0 for several days now so I wanted to share one of favorite warm outfits with you guys! It’s a great outfit for a day at the mall or a stroll through the city. Also, you may notice that I rolled my jeans up and honestly I only did that because those jeans are a little short but since it is winter, tucking your jeans into your boots is a great idea! Cute and Casual Fall OOTD

Today I have a Fall OOTD post for you guys! If you are one of my regular readers then I’m sure you remember me going off about how Fall in Canada isn’t as glamorous as it seems and there are only a few days where it isn’t cold or raining. Well, I had one of those days this week and it was so beautiful that it inspired me to do this ootd! The birds were chirping, it was around 15 degrees (Celsius), not a cloud in the sky, and as you will see in the pictures the leaves make for some mesmerizing scenery!I think it’s perfect for a short walk or a stroll through downtown, details are below all the pictures! Fall Fashion Must- Haves!

Yes, the leaves are changing into beautiful colors and Starbucks has gotten tastier drinks than ever but honestly Fall is getting the best of me. IN the mornings I always think I finally figured out the weather but then I go outside and I either freeze because I didn’t dress warm enough or I sweat like crazy the entire day because I felt like it was – 10 degrees whereas it was actually +10 degrees. Or weather just really wants to make me feel crappy and it decides to rain! SO I am making this post to help me get my stuff together and hopefully will help you guys too! I’ve pieced together several fashion items that I think are perfect for Fall, to keep us at the right temperature and looking cute while doing so.

Over the knee boots:

Over the knee boots, especially in suede, are everywhere now and its no wonder, I mean look how cute they are! Personally I love them because since they are so long, they add an extra layer of warmth so that you calves stay toasty all day. For me, I find wearing skirts and dresses really hard in the Fall because my legs always get to cold, but these babies are a solution to that! Between the boots and the skirt, there probably won’t be more than 5 inches of skin that isn’t covered by a thick layer of clothing.

Sweater dresses:

Like I said above, I find wearing dresses in the Fall really difficult but sweater dresses have made it a bit easier. Since sweater dresses are made out of thick material like sweaters (hence the name) it will ensure that you stay nice and warm. Although if your legs get cold like mine do, than you can pair a sweater dress with over the knee boots for a really chic and most importantly warm outfit!

Rain jacket:

Here in Canada, it rains constantly which is why a cute rain jacket is a must! I’ve heard people say many times that rain jackets can never be cute but let me assure you that those people are wrong. One example of a cute rain jacket is the one below from aliexpress.com

Cute rain boots:

Rain jackets and rain boots come hand in hand, so to match your cute rain jacket you need cute rain boots! Lately I’ve just been using my Timberlands as rain boots but I usually come home with wet feet… I do have normal rain boots but I just hate they way they look and resist to wear them anywhere outside my garden. I also didn’t feel like spending a whole lot of money for Hunters or similar expensive brands. So I found these cute ankle rain boots! I really like the way they look, they kind of remind me of Blunt stones… and they are %100 waterproof.

(from aliexpress.com)

Cute ankle boots:

For those truly beautiful Fall days where it isn’t raining and isn’t cold enough for over the knee boots these cute suede ankle boots are perfect! I really like these that I found at Softmoc because they can be on a bit more formal side and can be worn with dresses but they can also be really casual and be worn with jeans, I’m actually planning on purchasing this exact pair later today!

Scarves:

I can bet you saw this before! This year, these really big plaid scarves have really been trending. I’ve seen all types of blanket scarves (I have a black and grey one that my mom bought for me in Italy) but the plaid ones are simply everywhere I look! Honestly I love blanket scarves, they are warm and so soft that the whole day I just want to run my hand up and down the fabric! They are called blanket scarves because it’s literally as if you are wrapping yourself in a blanket- but a fashionable so it’s okay. 🙂

How to fix your powder/ compact!

I’ve never broken a compact powder until two weeks ago. Luckily, it wasn’t a really expensive powder but it’s one of y favorites and I use it almost daily so I definitely did not want to throw it out! So I decided to repair it and took pictures along the way so that I could show you guys how to fix your broken compacts.

What you’ll need:

  • A plastic bag
  • 70% or less rubbing alcohol
  • A towel (to keep the surface you are working on clean).
  • A knife (or anything that you can use to smush the powder pieces).

What to do: (Just follow the steps below, comment if you have any questions)

The paper towel will have absorbed all the excess alcohol, leaving you with a fixed compact like the one below!  As you can see, it won’t be as pretty as before but it will be usable. One last suggestion that I have is to use alcohol that is less than 70% because mine came out a bit more dry than wanted. Good luck to fixing your compacts!

Remember, if you have any questions make sure to leave me a comment and I’ll be more than happy to try to help!

Whole Sale Buying Review

About a month and a bit I wrote a wishlist post about a really cool site called Whole Sale Buying, you can check it out here. In case you haven’t seen my post, I’ll tell you a bit about it right now. It’s a website that sells whole sale but also just separate pieces at the same price you would get it at wholesale price. None of the items are from popular brands but all the items are really cute! Most of the items including make-up, clothes, purses, shoes, electronics are from $1 – $20! Most the clothes (men’s and women’s) are under $10. Now when I was wrote the wishlist post, especially since I haven’t ordered from there before many of you guys were skeptical that the deals are actually that good. I have to admit, it did seem too good to be true. So I decided to test it out and ordered from there. Here are the things I got:

cute crop top

I got this crop top which says, “You are my (sun) my (moon) and all my (stars)”. It really reminded me of the crop top from Brandy Melville that I always see everywhere and it was so cute that I had to get it! It was only $3.97! Here is the link if you would also like to get it. It’s  machine washable and the texture of it is really really soft.\

cute necklaceThis is one of the two necklaces that I got. It says, “Love beyond the moon and stars”. Kind of sticking with the astrological theme like the crop top. Its a nice bronze color that I think will go great with lot’s of my t-shirts. Here is it’s link.red blouse for cheapI also got this wine red top with beautiful detailing on the sleeves and at the bottom of the shirt. You can click on the pictures to see them bigger, you can also see some of the detailing in the picture above. It also comes in black and was $5.65 here is the link.shoulderless blouseThis is the last top that I got and it’s my favorite of the three I purchased. It’s a black and white blouse that is shoulderless. It also has a drawstring at the bottom which makes the blouse even more flowy. This shirt was only $5.23 and the link is here.

I strongly urge you  to try out this website, I assure you that it’s not a scam. These prices are amazing and so hard to come by. The only cons to this website is the since the clothes are so cheap they aren’t the best quality, when I say this I don’t mean that they rip or anything, I actually machine washed all my items and they came out fine, what I mean is most of the items are polyester blend or 100% polyester. That doesn’t bother me but it is something to consider. The second and last con is the shipping took very long, so always give yourself at least a month for the items to arrive. Other than that, I think this website is amazing, and I will definitely be doing lots of online shopping from it! I also got another necklace but I’m saving that for a special OOTD post!

Easy Halloween Nails You Can Do At Home!

I really wish I posted this post earlier because honestly I love all these nail ideas! If I’d done this earlier then I would have been able to do several of these before Halloween, I feel like it would be a bit strange if I did these after Halloween. Now I’m only going to have time to do one of these… so help me out and PLEASE comment which one I should do for Halloween, its too hard for me to decide!

black and white nails

I wouldn’t be able to do this but that’s just because I can’t even draw a moon on paper! Although if you can draw a moon and are looking for a subtle but Halloweeny look, then I suggest this! Simply get black nail polish, put a matt top coat and draw on the symbols above^. Like I said, it’s totally doable if you can draw.

halloween bloody nail  halloween mummy nails

This seems much more intricate than it really is, what I really love about this is that its ok if not everything is perfect. You simply draw horizontal lines across you nail. Then to do the eyes, draw another vertical line and then using a dotter, make a big black circle. Once that dries, use your dotter again and make a white circle inside the black circle so that only the rim of the black circle is showing. The last step is to draw yet another black circle inside the white one, and that’s it!

halloween easy nail tutorialhalloween nail tutorial

This one is so ridiculously simple but it looks so good! Choose a base coat (preferably orange since it is Halloween) and paint your whole nail. Then use a black and white glitter top coat on the tips of your nails. I actually have the perfect sparkle top coat for this, it looks exactly like the one above (I suspect it is actually the same one), it is called Black Tie Optional by Hard Candy and it only cost around $3!halloween nails easy halloween nails tutorial

Do you guys remember crackle? It was “the thing” about a year ago and now no one uses it anymore! Well if you are like me and never through out makeup until you finished it, then chances are you have a black crackle lying around somewhere! I find that the crackle looks perfect for Halloween, especially with orange as the base!halloween nails

This one also seems way harder to do than it actually is. First paint your nail any base color. Then the one hard part comes next, making the head! To make a head draw a semi circle first then two triangles near the sides of your nail (it isn’t too hard if you section of your nail). Then draw to big ovals inside the head and a small white line. Voila!

Fall Jacket Essentials

With all the leaves starting to change color and rain pouring as randomly as it does in tropical places like Cube, I think it is safe to say  that Fall has officially come to stay. I know many people love Fall because it still isn’t too cold but its also not scorching hot weather like in the summer time, and because with all the color change it is really beautiful. So as my first Fall post, I will show you which jackets I think are essential for Fall!

Fall Jackets

1.Jean Jacket

Every girl loves denim, and denim jackets are definitely no exception. Denim jackets are way warmer then they seem, plus they give off a really cute and young vibe. Also, please don’t wear a denim jacket with other denim unless you are intentionally going for the denim on denim look!

2. Sweater Weather

So this coat isn’t really a sweater but it feels like one and everyone knows how comfy sweaters are, so imagine how comfy something that looks like a jacket yet feels like a sweater is? Not to mention that it’s super cute and the is super form fitting because of the belt at the waistline.

3. Trench Coat Vest

If you follow my blog, then you know how I’ve been obsessing over these quite some time now… and well there isn’t too much to say except look how chic it is!

4. Blazer

Blazers are amazing especially for work, they add a touch of class and elegance to any outfit. For example, jeans and a blouse look nice but quite plain now just throw any blazer on top and you have a outfit that looks so much more professional and put together.

5. Leather Jacket

Ahhh, the piece of clothing that will probably never go out of style! And make sure to invest on a leather jacket because they are here to stay and will last you a while.

6. Trench coat

I think an army green or khaki trench coat is an absolute must-have! They can be worn with literally anything, are form fitting, and are comfy! I don’t know about you but that is just about everything I need when I’m looking for jackets.

For details on the jackets above, click here.

P.S. Giveaway coming up soon..stay tuned!
