Affordable skincare routine for all face types

Hi friends!

I’ve struggled with acne and dry skin for years! Some may think that dry skin is more fortunate than oily but with dry skin, it is actually much more complicated to get rid of acne. This is because most acne products work by drying out the skin and pores to get rid of the stuff inside it but when you do that to dry skin you only make your face flake and it gets a gross dry texture!

So I think I’ve found a series of skincare products that will work for most skincare types, from oily to dry. It is the Clean & Clear 3 Step Advantage Acne Control Kit.

I’d just like to state now that this is by no means sponsored, one of my friends that had really bad acne cleared her face up with this product and she it to me. It worked for me too so I just wanted to share this product so that it’ll hopefully help some of you guys too!

I like the three-step method because the cleanser is really great for cleaning the skin but it isn’t tough on the skin. It is extremely smooth on the skin and not too drying. Then you follow it up with the spot treatment. Now, this is very drying which is why you follow it up with the moisturizer. The moisturizer is hands down my favorite product of the three. It is so light that it feels like you haven’t applied anything. It also doesn’t have any distinguishable scent so it is perfect for sensitive skin. It drys relatively quickly so that you can apply makeup afterward if you wish and leaves face feeling fresh and moisturized!

Let me know if this product works for you too! Or if you’ve used it in the past and what are your thoughts on it?

Boxing Day Worth It or Not!?

Hey guys!

It’s your girl Kat and I wanted to start off this post by saying sorry for being MIA for the past 7 months… I will be making a whole new post about why this happened soon! I want to assure you guys that Im going to step back into posting regularly with beautiful pictures (took photography classes) and more helpful tips, ootd’s, and review (hint: GLAMGLOW Supermud! ) For now though I would like to talk about Boxing Day.

This is a bit of a different post than you are probably used to from me. Today I’m going to rant a bit… but not to worry my regular posts are coming back next week! So without further a do>>>

Q: In my opinion is boxing day worth it or not?

A: Today I went boxing day shopping with my girls and I will tell you immediately I was extremely disappointed! And I’m not above saying exactly which shops were the worst. So my day started out with waking up at 6:30 to get to the mall. My friends and I got there exactly when the mall opened and surprisingly the mall wasn’t extremely crowded, parking was basically full but it wasn’t much different than how the mall is on weekends. We went to Forever 21 first and spent around 30 min there… huge mistake! Everything was 21% off so I guess that wasn’t a bad deal but it definitely wasn’t anything great. I bought two sweaters from there(mainly because I had a gift card I wanted to get rid of).

We then decided to trek all the way across the mall to Lululemon because apparently last year they had great sales…well not so much this year. There were literally three racks with items that were priced around 20% off and of course by the time we got there everything in my or any of my friend’s sizes was gone. That’s where my biggest mistake was, we should have gone there before Forever 21. After that we went to a few other stores where all sales were honestly pretty bad.

One store that particularly upset me was Aerie. Their bras were $40 with 50% off whereas usually all year round their bras are $20.. so do the math. Its things like these that sales teams do on days like boxing, they try to trick us by inflating the prices and then slapping a huge discount on it. I mean this inst new news to anyone but still it made me quite upset.

The only good deals I found were at Abercromblie (jeans were only $44) and also Levis had 40% off their jeans which was great. Other than that most stores didn’t have any better prices than usual. Also if you buy more expensive clothes I noticed some good sales in those types of stores, for example Free People was having a 40% off entire store sale which is pretty damn good. Vince Camuto also had huge markdowns that were great.

So while there were a few things that you could buy for less, overall you can see why I was so bummed after shopping all day only to buy a few sweaters, a bra, and a ring. I think that boxing day does not make the prices more expensive or less honestly and personally I hate waking up early on my holiday days and pushing through crowds in a pushy crowd so for me this definitely was not worth it!

Congrats if you read this far!! And if you didn’t that’s ok I probably wouldn’t have either 😉

I live in Toronto and I’d love to hear if you found any good deals here or anywhere else where you live.. maybe I just went to the wrong place! Comment below!!

Casual Evening Outfit + Dresslink review

Today I wanted to share an outfit that I thought would be really cute for a casual night with friends. Its really easy to recreate this outfit because all you need is an elegant black shirt, black heels, and printed bottoms. The printed bottoms add some color and break up the blackness from the shoes and shirt- it adds a touch of playfulness! The exact details for the outfit will be listed below along with a review of a website called Dresslink, from which I made a wishlist post a few weeks ago.

ootd
evening outfit idea      752(3)
790(2) 752(2) 699  645(2)Shirt: Dresslink /Bottoms: Angie
/Shoes: Steve Madden Watch: Dresslink /Bracelets: Aldo
/Purse: Winners, similar here

Dresslink is a webiste that sells just about everything! Clothes, accessories, home, you name it, they have it, and all at such great prices. Click here for more info about the website. If you read the wishlist, you may remember that I was a bit skeptic about the quality of the clothes because the prices were so low. Well I was nicely surprised when I got the items and they were all fairly nice material. I mean, they obviously weren’t silk or anything, but the materials were soft and weren’t itchy at all. Another of my concern was the sizing, the sizes were asian sizes so you had to be really careful when ordering. Luckily all the items I bought fit me perfectly, so if you measure correctly, the sizing is quite accurate. Also, the items arrived in only 2 and a half weeks even though I was expecting it to take 3 or more, so that was a bonus as well! In the pictures above, the watch and shirt were both from dresslink and both were under $6! Look out for one my next posts witch will feature two more items from dresslink!

Overall I give this website 4/5 stars. The quality is much better than the price, all the items looked the same as in their pictures so there weren’t any surprises there, and all the items fit well. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was simply because shipping takes quite long, it did arrive sooner than expected but still it took some time. I strongly recommend this website if you’re on a budget but are a shopaholic (like myself), because this website has some seriously cute stuff for a great price!

My top 5 favorite mascaras (drugstore (mostly))

Hey y’all,

Today I will be talking about the make-up essential, the one thing every girl uses…..MASCARA!!! There are soo many mascaras on the market today, probably over a hundred, actually, maybe even one thousand! Today I will be mostly talking about my favorite drugstore mascaras, with the exception of one. I personally love water-proof products because I never know when I’ll get wet (I mean I don’t expect to start crying one day, or i don’t expect it to rain, or a snowlflake fall on my eyelashes and make them wet, or maybe get some dust in my eye so it starts watering!?). So if you catch my drift, you see that I always like to be ready for the unexpected. Therefore, I prefer waterproof mascara, but since I’ve always been lazy and I don’t take off all my make-up before bed (waterproof mascara is so damn hard to get off!!!), I know, I know, it’s horrible. So I’ve started using some normal mascaras (not waterproof) in hopes that it’ll be easier to take off in the evening. So enough rambling, let’s get down to the good stuff, shall we? In no specific order, here are my 5 favorite mascaras.
1) Maybelline; Colossal Volume Express -not waterproof

This is my favorite not waterproof mascara, it makes my lashes really long, I love it! I’m always so afraid that if my mascara isn’t waterproof, it’ll smudge throughout the day but this mascara stays on the whole day and doesn’t smudge. Although i do not recommend putting this mascara on your bottom lashes, as I find that it will smudge(and so will every other not waterproof mascara) Another great thing about this product is that removing it at night is so easy! And that’s very important to me. The prices vary in different drug-stores, but in most places they around $5.

2) Clinique; High Impact Mascara- not waterproof

This mascara is only $13 so I decided to add it in this last. It is truly a great mascara and worth the extra few dollars. It lengthens and volumizes your lashes, after two coats of this you’ll have the best looking “real” lashes( I say ‘real’ becasue lot’s of people wear fake eyelashes, and unfortunatly no mascara will make your lashes look as full as a pair of fake ones) in the crowd. Removal is really easy as well, water should be enough to take it off.
3) Maybelline; The Falsies Big Eyes – waterproof

This mascara is around $8 in most drugstores and is really great because not only does it come with  normal wand, it also has a wand for your bottom lashes! Making this one a double threat 😉 This is probably my favorite formula of all the mascaras, it rarely clumps and yet makes your lashes look so full! The biggest downside to this mascara is that it dried out very quickly, in  a matter of two weeks, the mascara was hardly usable anymore! Although I loved the formula so much, I still went on a bought another bottle.
4) Essence; Get Big Lashes Volume Boost  – waterproof

This is one that I’m sure many if you will be surprised that I chose. Essence isn’t really known for anything except that they’re make-up is really cheap. So believe me when I bought this mascara by mistake and tested it out, I couldn’t believe the wonders it worked! It makes your eyelashes look so good, I don’t have words to describe it. While making your lashes full and voluminous, they look really natural. It’s truly hard to explain. It also last forever and it has a thick brush that makes application soo easy. It’s only $3, so really, I think you should go buy it and see for yourself! Although I must warn you, the removal of this mascara is not easy, but I think it’s definitely worth it.
5) Maybelline; The Falsies Volume Express- waterproof

This mascara costs around $6 and is one of my old favorites, I can’t even remember how long I’ve been using it! In all honestly it does clump, but it makes your lashes so thick, it’s crazy! The formula is really liquidy so it makes application an ease, although the fact that it is so liquid makes it have clumps. But the clumps are always easy to remove with just the use of your finger. And I also feel that I should mention that I think this bottle is never-ending! I’ve had for over 6 months (I know, I should replace it soon, blah, blah, blah) and use it regularly and it still seems full! I think there’s some magic going on here…..

So that just about sums it all up! You should definitely give at least one of these a go, I mean what could it cost you;)

Kat

Treasured Polish Review (O.P.I)

This is going to be a quick post about a nail polish that I bought recently and have been loving lately!IMG_1181

It is the Nicole by O.P.I in the shade: back to reality… Tv

First off, isn’t that the cutest name!! Nail polishes always have adorable names but this one really made me smile because I thought it was soo funny…
Now to the releventt stuff:
I love the formula of this nail polish so much! It glides on easily and makes almost no bubbles, it also doesn’t make any lines from the bristles of the brush. Speaking of the brush, it is very thick and I personally like that but some may not as it is harder to do any detailed designs. This color is a beautiful pastel purple, if purple can be a pastel?! Although  you can put on several layers for a darker color. Below, there is an image of my nails after applying one coat of this color:

Seche Vite Review (must-read!!)

IMG_1189 It was a holy day when I was in Winners looking for a new topcoat for nail-polish. Seche vite first caught my attention because it was in a box whereas all the other nail polishes were just freestanding. It was $7 and I was going to put it back (I know it’s a good price but there were other topcoats that cost less and I’m a money saver…) but then I realized that seche vite means dry quick in French. Since I never had a quick dry topcoat I decided to read what it said on the box. Here is a picture of what it said: IMG_1194 I am easily convinced to buy anything, really, if I watch any infomercial I will want to buy the object no matter how dumb or unuseful it may be. So this description instantly sold the product to me. And I must say that description has not let me down! This is a great product but as always there are some cons, here is a comparison:

Pro’s:

– It doesn’t smudge the layer of nail polish like some topcoats do – Your nail polish lasts 2-3 days longer

– Less chipping

– Makes your nail polish look like gel nail polish because of the thick layer of shine. Many people ask me if I’m wearing gel nail polish when I use this top coat.

Con’s: – Horrible stench, as soon as you open the nail polish you will smell are really horrible and strong scent. Since it is chemicals and probably a bit toxic, I suggesting applying this in an open area, or outside, not inside your bedroom.

-It may shrink some nail polish. On some occasions I noticed that after applying this topcoat my nail polish shrank a bit and you could see the tips of your fingernails. But the shrinkage is so minimal that you won’t notice unless you try finding it.

With Seche Vite

In conclusion, this product always gets me many compliments and has a lot more pros than cons. The one thing I didn’t mention yet is whether it really is quick drying. I didn’t comment on it because I don’t think there is a sure way to tell but I do think that it helped the polish dry a bit quicker.
