Christmas Nails

Christmas is nearing so it’s time to get our nails ready! I did some searching online for pictures of nails that you can do at home and look great. Hope you enjoy!

I think all of these are pretty self explanatory on how to do but if you have any questions, make sure to comment and I’ll try to help!

Fall Fashion Must- Haves!

Yes, the leaves are changing into beautiful colors and Starbucks has gotten tastier drinks than ever but honestly Fall is getting the best of me. IN the mornings I always think I finally figured out the weather but then I go outside and I either freeze because I didn’t dress warm enough or I sweat like crazy the entire day because I felt like it was – 10 degrees whereas it was actually +10 degrees. Or weather just really wants to make me feel crappy and it decides to rain! SO I am making this post to help me get my stuff together and hopefully will help you guys too! I’ve pieced together several fashion items that I think are perfect for Fall, to keep us at the right temperature and looking cute while doing so.

Over the knee boots:

Over the knee boots, especially in suede, are everywhere now and its no wonder, I mean look how cute they are! Personally I love them because since they are so long, they add an extra layer of warmth so that you calves stay toasty all day. For me, I find wearing skirts and dresses really hard in the Fall because my legs always get to cold, but these babies are a solution to that! Between the boots and the skirt, there probably won’t be more than 5 inches of skin that isn’t covered by a thick layer of clothing.

Sweater dresses:

Like I said above, I find wearing dresses in the Fall really difficult but sweater dresses have made it a bit easier. Since sweater dresses are made out of thick material like sweaters (hence the name) it will ensure that you stay nice and warm. Although if your legs get cold like mine do, than you can pair a sweater dress with over the knee boots for a really chic and most importantly warm outfit!

Rain jacket:

Here in Canada, it rains constantly which is why a cute rain jacket is a must! I’ve heard people say many times that rain jackets can never be cute but let me assure you that those people are wrong. One example of a cute rain jacket is the one below from aliexpress.com

Cute rain boots:

Rain jackets and rain boots come hand in hand, so to match your cute rain jacket you need cute rain boots! Lately I’ve just been using my Timberlands as rain boots but I usually come home with wet feet… I do have normal rain boots but I just hate they way they look and resist to wear them anywhere outside my garden. I also didn’t feel like spending a whole lot of money for Hunters or similar expensive brands. So I found these cute ankle rain boots! I really like the way they look, they kind of remind me of Blunt stones… and they are %100 waterproof.

(from aliexpress.com)

Cute ankle boots:

For those truly beautiful Fall days where it isn’t raining and isn’t cold enough for over the knee boots these cute suede ankle boots are perfect! I really like these that I found at Softmoc because they can be on a bit more formal side and can be worn with dresses but they can also be really casual and be worn with jeans, I’m actually planning on purchasing this exact pair later today!

Scarves:

I can bet you saw this before! This year, these really big plaid scarves have really been trending. I’ve seen all types of blanket scarves (I have a black and grey one that my mom bought for me in Italy) but the plaid ones are simply everywhere I look! Honestly I love blanket scarves, they are warm and so soft that the whole day I just want to run my hand up and down the fabric! They are called blanket scarves because it’s literally as if you are wrapping yourself in a blanket- but a fashionable so it’s okay. 🙂

How to fix your powder/ compact!

I’ve never broken a compact powder until two weeks ago. Luckily, it wasn’t a really expensive powder but it’s one of y favorites and I use it almost daily so I definitely did not want to throw it out! So I decided to repair it and took pictures along the way so that I could show you guys how to fix your broken compacts.

What you’ll need:

  • A plastic bag
  • 70% or less rubbing alcohol
  • A towel (to keep the surface you are working on clean).
  • A knife (or anything that you can use to smush the powder pieces).

What to do: (Just follow the steps below, comment if you have any questions)

The paper towel will have absorbed all the excess alcohol, leaving you with a fixed compact like the one below!  As you can see, it won’t be as pretty as before but it will be usable. One last suggestion that I have is to use alcohol that is less than 70% because mine came out a bit more dry than wanted. Good luck to fixing your compacts!

Remember, if you have any questions make sure to leave me a comment and I’ll be more than happy to try to help!

How I go from Summer to Fall!

With Fall officially here, leaves are not the only things changing color! Whenever seasons change, our style and color choices change too! I’m going to show you some of the ways that I change my style to transition into the Fall from Summer! For me, the three main things that change from Summer to Fall are my nails, hair, and outfits! And obviously my Starbucks latte (Pumpkin Spice is the way to go)! In this post I’ll be showing you some of my favorite Fall colors for everything beauty related!

Nails:

Obviously as the weather gets colder everyone gets a bit more gloomy and we all go towards the darker colors or nudes instead of pastels and bright colors. Some of my favorite Fall nail polishes are:

Hair:Hello Autumn

I don’t dye my hair too much, but when I do the seasons definitely effect whether I’m going darker or lighter. In the Fall and Winter time I love deep chocolate brown and raven black colors. I find that those two look striking in the winter time, it may be because of the contrast of those colors against the snow. Here is an online quiz  made by Madison Reed, a hair color company that has re-engineered permanent color to give everyone a chance to get hair that looks like it was done by professionals at home! You can take it to see which hair color is best for you, It asks you just about everything about your hair, from your skin color to hair texture to determine which hair color would best suit you!

Makeup:

My face makeup stays the same, but I usually change up my eye looks and my lipstick for Fall! On my eyes I really like using natural colored and/ or copper and gold eye shadows. I really love browns paired with gold because it gives such a natural yet still big appearance on your face, smokey eyes (especially with browns) are another one of my favorite things for Fall. And of course, I match the natural(ish) eye shadow with a bold and dark (darker than usual) lip color. Here are some of my favorite lipstick shades (My favorite is the YSL limited Edition in Black Red):

Easy Halloween Nails You Can Do At Home!

I really wish I posted this post earlier because honestly I love all these nail ideas! If I’d done this earlier then I would have been able to do several of these before Halloween, I feel like it would be a bit strange if I did these after Halloween. Now I’m only going to have time to do one of these… so help me out and PLEASE comment which one I should do for Halloween, its too hard for me to decide!

black and white nails

I wouldn’t be able to do this but that’s just because I can’t even draw a moon on paper! Although if you can draw a moon and are looking for a subtle but Halloweeny look, then I suggest this! Simply get black nail polish, put a matt top coat and draw on the symbols above^. Like I said, it’s totally doable if you can draw.

halloween bloody nail  halloween mummy nails

This seems much more intricate than it really is, what I really love about this is that its ok if not everything is perfect. You simply draw horizontal lines across you nail. Then to do the eyes, draw another vertical line and then using a dotter, make a big black circle. Once that dries, use your dotter again and make a white circle inside the black circle so that only the rim of the black circle is showing. The last step is to draw yet another black circle inside the white one, and that’s it!

halloween easy nail tutorialhalloween nail tutorial

This one is so ridiculously simple but it looks so good! Choose a base coat (preferably orange since it is Halloween) and paint your whole nail. Then use a black and white glitter top coat on the tips of your nails. I actually have the perfect sparkle top coat for this, it looks exactly like the one above (I suspect it is actually the same one), it is called Black Tie Optional by Hard Candy and it only cost around $3!halloween nails easy halloween nails tutorial

Do you guys remember crackle? It was “the thing” about a year ago and now no one uses it anymore! Well if you are like me and never through out makeup until you finished it, then chances are you have a black crackle lying around somewhere! I find that the crackle looks perfect for Halloween, especially with orange as the base!halloween nails

This one also seems way harder to do than it actually is. First paint your nail any base color. Then the one hard part comes next, making the head! To make a head draw a semi circle first then two triangles near the sides of your nail (it isn’t too hard if you section of your nail). Then draw to big ovals inside the head and a small white line. Voila!

How to Turn a Day Outfit into an Evening Outfit/ OOTD

Have you ever had a day where you had plans to hang out with people all day- from day to night? For example, first you went shopping and then had plans to go for drinks at night with the same person, and didn’t have enough time to change from your shopping outfit to an evening outfit? Well a few days ago I had a similar experience so I had to think of a way to go from a casual day outfit to a night outfit without going home to change or bring a whole other outfit along with me. I came up with a simple recipe that I will always follow if I come into a situation like this.

The Day Outfit:

For the day outfit I chose a pretty blouse that could be dressed up or down, and wore my favorite pair of wedges that can also be dressed up or down depending the situation. Since the blouse and shoes were more formal than what I would normally wear, I dressed the outfit down by pairing them with simple white denim shorts. I kept the jewelry pretty simple with a watch and a big gold necklace, although if you want an even more casual look, I suggest you take off the necklace.

Recipe: Pretty blouse+ denim shorts + wedges + simple jewelry =A day outfit that can be transformed in a night outfit in one step!

The Night Outfit:

497

507

Outfit Details:

Blouse: Dresslink ||Skirt: H&M ||Necklace: Ardene ||Shoes:Steve Madden ||Watch: Dresslink ||Bracelets: Aldo

As you can see, all I did was put on a skin tight black skirt. This skirt was easily foldable so I just stuffed it into my purse and put it on when the time came! The skirt made the outfit look far more formal and “nightly” then the shorts did, especially since it was skin tight.

Recipe: Pretty blouse + skin tight skirt + black heels + lots of bold jewelry =  Night Outfit!

Worst Fashion Trends from the 21st Century

Hey guys! Today I have a fun little post about fashion trends that I disliked most in the 20th century! I want to start off with a disclaimer, I do not mean to offend anyone! So if you still like or sport one of these trends please do not be offended, these are simply my own opinions. As I’ve said before, everyone has their own sense of style, one person may hate what one is wearing while someone else might love it. So please just keep that in mind, these are the worst trends in MY opinion. Ok, with that said, lets get started!

1.Sheer Tops

worst fashion trends sheer top

I never really understood sheer tops, I mean what is the point of showing your whole bra? Or showing your skin except tinted? I know many places found this very inappropriate and viewed it the same as wearing nothing at all! If you think about it, you really are exposing everything except there is thin piece off cloth over you! Is the point of it to go topless but to be warm while doing it? I guess i’ll never know.

2. Sneakerwedges

worst fashion trends sneakerwedges

This is another thing that gets me mind-boggled, why put wedges into sneakers!? Sneakers are supposed to be casual, comfy, and most importantly COMFORTABLE! You are supposed to be able to run in them if need be, these wedges ruined the whole purpose of sneakers. If you really want wedges, then wear real wedges, they are so much nicer! And also, even though the wedge is “hidden”, everyone knows it’s there, it is so obvious!

3. Bell Bottoms

worst trends bell bottoms

Now, I’m aware many will not agree with this one but honestly, I hate bell bottoms. Don’t get me wrong boot cut is okay, and other jeans that are a bit wider than your ankles are great as they make your legs look slimmer. But honestly, when the circumference of the bottom of your jeans is big enough to fit both legs through, there is a problem! Yes, these will make you seem as though you have slimmer legs, but it will also swallow you up!

4. Crocs

worst trends crocs

Well there’s not much to say about crocs… everyone now is wondering how they even became a trend in the first place. I mean they are great for gardening and we also bring them to hotels as slippers, so I guess that’s a plus?

5.Shutter Shades
worst trends shutter shades

Do you remember seeing these everywhere? I remember seeing these at every single vendor on the street! I even saw people wearing them and I know I really wanted them because they just seemed so cool. Well now looking back, I’m wondering what was wrong with me! I mean they are great for children to play with and call their glasses without being worried the the glass will shatter or something else but not for anything else. I wish I could go back in time and ask the people I saw wearing these glasses why they have them? I mean what is their use? They don’t protect from the sun and they definitely don’t look good, so why?

Comment if you can remember another trend that now looking back you hate!

Quick drugstore everyday make-up tutorial! Simple and great for beginners!

Here is a quick and easy make-up tutorial that is great for going to school, work, or anywhere during the day! It’s really is easy and there are only a few steps so it is great for people that are in a rush or don’t like spending too much time doing their make-up. Also, all of the products are drugstore items so anyone can re-create this exact look!  Below is a collage highlighting the most important steps but if you need more detailed descriptions they will be below 🙂

First start off with a bare and clean face, so do whatever your face-care routine is in the morning and let’s get started!

I don’t like wearing lot’s of face makeup to school or when it’s warm so I will not be showing it in this tutorial, although if you prefer using foundation on a daily basis, apply it now. I just use concealer, so first I go in with the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind- dark circle eraser. I use that under my eyes as you can see in the picture, I also use it on any pimples that are really red because I find that this concealer neutralizes color really well.

Now don’t blend right away, apply a second (more liquidy) concealer that has a different shade. I say this because the first concealer is very light and does cover under-eye circles but doesn’t blend in with the rest of my face, so by applying a darker concealer over I not only get my correct colour but my pimples get fully concealed. The second concealer I’m using is Covergirl+Olay : Eye Rehab, I like this one because it is really thick and covers well (almost looks like a foundation) but still feels light on your face.

Now blend the concealers. I like using my ring finger when I’m lazy or a beauty blender if I have more time. Once you finish that, set it with a powder.

The steps I don’t show are putting on mascara and eyeliner because everyone knows how to do this and has their own technique. For eyeliner I usually just do a straight line because a wing takes me too long and a nice affordable eyeliner is Wet n Wild : Coloricon brow and eyeliner in black black. I always change up mascaras depending on the day but in this tutorial I used the Maybelline Big Eyes mascara. (And no, this post isn’t sponsored by Maybelline, I just like their products.) I also filled in my brows with the Elf eyebrow kit, a whole post on how I do my eyebrows will be coming up soon!

Lastly, choose any lipstick or lipgloss that you like ( in my case it’s NYC appleicious in Garnet Gala) and ta -da!! You are finished and ready to get on with your buisy day! (or just a lazy day) 😉

First Day of School Outfit Ideas

For me, school will be starting soon so I wanted to share some outfit ideas for the first day of school! If you already started school, you can wear these cute outfits any day at school too, hope you enjoy! For links to where you can buy any of the items below, the details will be on my polyvore.
First Day of School Outfits
I know that in different places the weather will be different, for example here in Canada it`s already starting to get too cold for shorts some days whereas I know in other places people are dieing of heat!
#1 The first outfit is a simple skater skirt with a brown belt to match the brown sandals. Lastly just tuck in any plain tee and add a long necklace for a really cute outfit.
#2 The second outfit is my favorite! Its a shirt dress with a chambray shirt tied around the waist, paired with white high tops. Shirt dresses are so great for school because they are so easy to slip on, comfortable, casual, and still bring the femininity that dresses have.
#3 This outfit is a bit boho chic, the flowy shorts and shirt combined give a really gentle and soft look!
#4 If it’s a bit colder where you live, this outfit is great because it includes jeans. Boyfriend jeans, converse, and a graphic tee go so well together and will keep you warm. If you want to be even warmer, any cardigan would go great with this outfit!
