Swimsuit Guide- Swimsuit shopping if you have no curves

Summer is nearing so I thought, ” What better posts for the summer than  a swimsuit series?” I’ve decided to make a whole series about which swimsuits are best for which body types, certain body issues, and occasions! This series should hopefully make you feel beautiful in your body no matter what it looks like! Because even though your body is yours, and you should never let anyone judge it, we usually judge ourselves the most. So if your worried that your belly is too big, or that you look too flat, or that your breasts will fall out of your bathing suit, this is the series for you! Over the next few weeks I will be posting several posts about these topics. I hope you enjoy and start loving your body for the way it is by the end of this series!

Do you have the athletic build (also known as the little-boy build), and want to make it seem like you actually have some curves? If that’s you, then keep reading! In case you aren’t sure if that is your build, an athletic build has almost no difference between your waist and hips, you can look at the photo below for reference.

High-waisted bathing suits are great if you want to make your waist seem smaller. Since it covers your top and most of your belly, it directs  the eye to your waist and gives an illusion that its really small.

Look for bathing suits with slits, like the one in the picture below. It works wonders!

Try finding a bathing suit with a belt around the waist, or any embellishment around it.

Bathing suits with curvy lines like the one in the picture below, trick the eye into thinking that you  have curves.

Cinched bathing suits are great for making you look slimmer in general which means they are great for making your waist seem small!

Hope some of this helps!

  9. Help me out here: what difference in inches would you say there’d be to NOT be boy/athletic? I honestly can’t decide if my waist-to-hip ratio is more Johansson or Diaz. And it doesn’t help that Diaz appears to my eye to *have* a distinct difference between her waist and hips! (Although I can see that Scarlett is all-around voluptuous.) These suits are really cute at any rate!

    • I would say that an athletic build has 3 inches or less of a difference between hips to waist. I think anyone with a difference of 4 plus has quite a distinguished waistline and does not have an athletic build. There are no real parameters, these are just my two cents, hope this answered your question!

      • Good enough for me! Thanks Kat. (That propels me out of athletic, although… I wish the powers-that-be would decide once and for all what the official waist is: narrowest part, at navel, and at one inch *below* navel are all definitions I’ve heard in recent years!)

    • Thanks a lot! I’ll check out your blog as soon as I find some time! I’ve been so busy with exams lately! Unfortunately I do not know where the mesh bathing suit is from but the high waisted one is from aliexpress.com. It’s also a great price! Simply type in “high waisted bikinis” and dozens of beautiful bikinis will come up, including this one!
